In Saint Nicolas de la Grave: nature and culture

On foot or by bike, you can enjoy the surrounding countryside, or go to the leisure center by taking the Bird Observatory Circuit which leaves from the house. On site, various nautical activities are offered: catamaran, pedal boat, sailing, stand-up paddle, etc. You will also discover the most important bird sanctuary in the Southwest, known for the diversity of bird species found there.

A few meters away is the Canal des Deux Mers bordered by the Vélo Voie Verte, as pleasant to walk on foot as by bicycle.

After admiring Richard Lion’s Heart Castle and the alleys of our beautiful village, you can visit the Lamothe Cadillac Museum, birthplace of the Knight of Lamothe Cadillac, founder of the city of Detroit.

Moissac

Our bed and breakfast is only 10 minutes away from Moissac. Essential step on the way to Compostela, the Abbey of Moissac was founded in the 7th century and had, for centuries, a great influence in the region. Its tympanum and cloister are now classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.

It is good to stroll around the city, sip a glass of Chasselas juice, the famous AOP grape from Moissac, in front of the abbey, or take a stroll on the marina, the starting point for cruises on the canal.

Abbaye de Belleperche

Belleperche Abbey located along the Garonne river and its museum of table arts

Close to our bed and breakfast near Moissac, the Belleperche Abbey houses the Museum of Table Arts. In addition to the magnificent building, there are collections of objects for drinking and eating, from the late Middle Ages to the present day.

The Canal des Deux Mers and the Vélo Voie Verte

Cycling path located along the Canal des 2 mers

The Canal des Deux Mers is an extension of the famous Canal du Midi and makes it possible to cycle through 4 departments from Toulouse to Bordeaux: Haute-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, Lot-et-Garonne and Gironde. These kilometers of canals constitute one of the major attractions of Tarn-et-Garonne and are an opportunity to meet three specificities of this type of landscape: the Montech Slope of Water, unique in the world, the Cacor Canal Bridge in Moissac and the Saint-Jacques swing bridge in Moissac.

The Green Lane Bike along the canal is as pleasant for a walk as it is for a bike.

Lauzerte

30 minutes from our bed and breakfast in Tarn et Garonne is Lauzerte, classified among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France” and a must on the way to Saint Jacques de Compostelle. Bastide perched, the village is full of charm with its white stone houses of Quercy and its small alleys, each one prettier than the other. The view from the Jardin du Pélerin is superb.

Montauban

Built in 1144, Montauban is considered to be a prototype of the bastides of the Southwest. Classified as a City of Art and History, we like to relax on the National Square, surrounded by buildings typical of the region in red bricks. There are many museums there but the Ingres-Bourdelle museum, just renovated, remains a must visit in Montauban, city which saw the birth of the famous artists Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres and Antoine Bourdelle.

Toulouse

Our B&B is close to Toulouse and a day in the “pink city” will enhance your stay with an urban touch. There are a lot of things to see and do in Toulouse but, among the most famous visits, we can recommend Place du Capitole, Saint-Sernin basilica, the Jacobins convent or the Cité de l’Espace. Strolling through the streets of the city, along the Canal du Midi or near the banks of the Garonne will also allow you to appreciate the different aspects of Toulouse.
